Donnellson, IA (Tuesday, October 25, 2016) – “Shiverfest has for many years been the last stock car racing event held in the start of Iowa, and that tradition continues again this weekend. It also brings a close to the 2016 season at the Pepsi Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa. The annual “Shiverfest” event will be held this Friday, October 28th and Saturday, October 29th, and is being brought to you by Casey’s General Stores, Randall’s Performance, and Trump Trucks.
Friday, October 28th events will consist of practice, grudge races, mechanic races, and pit crew challenge. The first practice will be held from 7 PM until 8 PM, and will be followed by mechanic races and grudge races from 8 PM until 8:30 PM. A final practice will be held from 8:30 PM until 8:45 PM, and will be followed up by the pit crew challenge from 8:45 PM until it’s complete. The pit crew challenge will pay $300 to the winning team, which will consist of 2 pit crew members and a driver. The driver will drive the race car to the tire changing area, then shut off the car, then the pit crew will change the left front tire, and when they are done the driver will fire up the car and driver it to the finish. A party in the pits after wards will cap off the evening, with a Monster Beer Pong Tournament being held. Teams of 2 will pay a $20 entry fee, with 100% payout.
Then on Saturday, October 29th there will be hay rack rides through the pits, trick-or-treating, box car races, and then the on track action. Hay rack rides through the pits will be held from 3 PM until 4 PM, and will be followed by trick-or-treating sponsored by the drivers from 4 PM until 4:30 PM. The box car races, with a best appearing box car being awarded, will begin at 4:30 PM until 5 PM. Then the on track action will kick off with hot laps at 5 PM, and racing to follow.
In action on Saturday will the Steffes Late Models, Budweiser Modifieds, Donnellson Tire and Service Stock Cars, Shottenkirk Parts Express SportMods, Coors Light Hobby Stocks, and Armstrong Tractor Sport Compacts. The Mod Lites/Micro Mods have been added to the program, and will receive an extra $100 to win thanks to Jay Erb of Erbal Ink Tattoos out of Waukon, Iowa. All drivers will draw for there starting spot in the heat races each night, with a redraw being used to help determine the feature line-ups.
On Saturday the Steffes Late Models and Budweiser Modifieds will be racing for $500 to win. While the Donnellson Tire and Service Stock Cars and Shottenkirk Parts Express SportMods are racing for $400 to win. The Coors Light Hobby Stocks are racing for $250 to win, with the Armstrong Tractor Sport Compacts racing for $200 to win. There are NO entry fees for any class, unless they want to race for the Gamblers Pay. For the Late Models a $50 entry will give them a chance to race for $1,000 to win, while the Modified winner will get $1,000 to win with a $25 entry. An entry fee of $20 will get the Stock Car and SportMod winner a check for $800 to win. While the Hobby Stock winner will receive $500 with a $15 entry, and the Sport Compact will get $400 to win with a $15 entry.
Grandstands will be closed for Friday night, but the pit passes will be drivers $20, non drivers $15, ages (7-13) $10, and ages 6 & under $5. Then on Saturday grandstand admission will be adults $10, seniors (60+) $9, students (11-17) $5, and kids 10 & under FREE! Pit passes will be $25, ages (7-13) $15, ages (3-6) $10, and ages 2 & under $3.
A bonus of $200 for any Modified, Stock Car, and SportMod driver who has a perfect attendance at all nine fall special events will be paid out at the end of the night, while any Hobby Stock driver will receive $150 and any Sport Compact driver will receive $100 for perfect attendance at all nine fall specials.
The following rules will apply at all nine fall special events: A Working Raceceivers Mandatory In All Classes – 454.000…NON STAMPED HOOSIER’S ALLOWED ON FRONT ONLY……NO GROOVED TIRES ON REAR IN ANY CLASS!!!…MODIFIEDS – IMCA Rules Apply except for the following: Hoosier or American Racer G60 tires may be grooved on the front…Non IMCA legal cars must run 25 lbs. in front of mid plate…All Aluminum headed motors must add 50 lbs. of lead on front by the motor…Roller motors and stud girdles are legal…Quick change rear ends are legal…Fuel pump on transmission is legal…Front tubular is okay…7800 RPM chip with all open motors…Rear suspension must be IMCA legal…NO Spoilers…STOCK CARS – IMCA Rules Apply with the following allowed: Hoosier or American Racer G60 tires may be grooved on the front…Aftermarket blocks are okay…SPORTMODS – IMCA or USRA Rules Apply with the following allowed: Hoosier or American Racer G60 tires may be grooved on the front…USRA legal SportMods must run NO Spoiler…HOBBY STOCKS – IMCA Rules Apply with floater rend ends allowed….SPORT COMPACTS – IMCA Rules Apply.
